Doll up yourself – Play with colors on your wedding!

Your d-day is around and you are in a dilemma of what to wear? Indian weddings are incomplete without a heavy red/maroon color outfit, wearing bridal outfit is reckoned to a red color -: it’s a fashion passé’! Come out of this cliché and try something really quirky wear which make everyone eyeball you and noteworthy for this special occasion. Wearing something which blends traditional couture and intricate details with a modern touch makes an Indian bride look beautiful and magnificent. Stick to the basic gold for your bridal wear which is quite a vintage and a magical color. Adding purple, orange, green, pink colors instead of wearisome and monotonous red and maroons to the basic gold gives an out-and-out blooming fresh look and can glam up any bride.

Most Indian brides have a tough time deciding which the appropriate Indian bridal dresses are. Here are some ideas which will come to your rescue while deciding. While your wedding outfit should be conventional and ethnic, your outfit for the reception which is mere a cocktail party, can be a blend of modern and a traditional one.

For the wedding-

You can find bridal lehengas of all designs and hues ranging from stone work, bootis, gotta patti, patches, mirror work, et al. Kundan work along with zardosi and minakari in gold thread on velvet with a combination of bottle green, pink, mauve, porple, orange, blue and maroon is sure to carry the big day. Team this up with a bordered net or silk dupatta for an added effect.

Below are three pictures of designer Ritu Kumar lehenga’s perfect for the wedding day. I would love to wear these and these lehengas make my heart skip a beat and i can barely resist to wear them and be the cynosure of everyone’s eye. And may be they can give you ideas to show to your boutique designers and get a similar lehanga designed.

Fashion Tip – Gotta patti work is very much in! So get yourself clad in a velvet piece with gotta patti work which will look very quirky and also its a new and a unique concept for the brides.

For the reception party – Wear Fusion!

Enough of traditional wear worn in the pre wedding and wedding functions. At reception, wear something which is quite modern yet gives a conventional tinge and touch. Also don’t go overboard with a lot of gold jewellery. Wear subtle jewellery, maybe a piece of a diamond neck piece and danglers (emerald looks really great!).Whatever you decide to wear, whether an English outfit or an Indian outfit the important thing at the reception is not to look clumsy and still look a newlywed bride. So, I have selected a plethora of styles and designs to give my readers a clue of what to wear at their wedding reception.

Below is an elegant and sophisticated piece by designer, Manish Malhotra. I love the way the lower base blooms and the color is so pretty! Gorgeous!! These ghagras and lachas in the hues of beige, blue, red, off white in indo-western style looks amazingly stylish and add to the vintage appeal of the outfits.

This baby pink and silver designer piece is by Anjalee and Arjun kapoor which I completely adore. All you need to do is to drape this dress and look as pretty as Cindrella.

This elegant out of the box piece is by designer, Tarun Tahiliani. I don’t like too heavy pieces but I just love the idea how he has given sophisticated ‘folds’ to this lehenga which makes it a top notch outfit. All in all, this entire outfit gives a very royal touch because it is heavily designed.
